We are grateful to Alia Curtis and Yangjie Cheng for their advice in the initial designing phase of this website.

For those who like to embrace endless green prairies, please view the beautiful Inner Mongolia green land in China and its smiling ladies. We thank Dr. Chien Chiang for kindly made these photos available to us.

In the political world, we have an important article for world peace, "Stopping a Nuclear Arms Race between America and China," a policy brief from August 2007 by Hugh White, former Deputy Secretary for Strategy and Intelligence of Australia, now Professor at the Lowy Institute for International Policy. The entire report will be published in three parts, starting with part (I) in October.

In the Books and Writings section, we introduce Al Gore's book, The Assault on Reason, in connection with China's corruption fight, and comments on the article, "China Promotes Darfur-Bound Peacekeepers," by Edward Cody reporting from Beijing.

We offer the conclusion of the first video, Secrets Underground, in this October publication. We wish that you have enjoyed the show.

Congratulations to Erhu Master Benjamin Sun who was introduced in our September publication. He is returning to China this fall to take the directorship of the Wuhan Song and Dance Theater Academy in China. When he arrived in New York for the first time 17 years ago at age 34, he was seeking an "American Dream" with only 420 U.S. dollars in his pocket. To commend his achievement of introducing Chinese traditional music techniques into Western culture, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has decided to name October 1 the "Benjamin Sun Day" starting from 2007.

This month we present you a different rhythm, the Silk Road Music, by Qiu Xia He and Andrea Thibault, a husband and wife team. Their music is an innovative blend of Asian, jazz, Latin and Celtic music with classical Chinese instruments and techniques.

Finally, many thanks go to Dr. Hong Chiok Ng for graciously making the series, Art in China (I-IV), available for adaptation to our website. Most of his and his collaborator's art analyses are written in German. We have translated a short article into English to introduce recent art development in China. For those who are interested in further in-depth understanding, please find Dr. Ng's contact information in the Art section. In this publication, we introduce Gu Gan  who is now internationally recognized as a pioneer of the Modernist movement in calligraphic painting in China.
